Acts House of Education Primary School proudly participated
in the EMS (Economic and Management Sciences) Olympiad on 14 August, marking a
significant milestone for the school’s EMS department. Among the students
selected to represent the school, Gianna Govender, a Grade 7 learner, achieved
outstanding success by securing first place in the circuit for independent
schools. Gianna’s impressive performance has earned her a spot in the District
EMS Olympiad, which will take place on 28 August 2024.
Mrs. Loshnee du Preez, the Head of Grade 7 and Gianna’s EMS
teacher, expressed her pride in Gianna’s achievement, saying, “I am thrilled
for Gianna. Her confidence during the exam was remarkable, and it made me
incredibly proud. At the end of the Olympiad, she came up to me and said, ‘We
got this, ma’am,’ and I just knew she had done exceptionally well. When I
received the results on Friday and saw that she placed first, I was overjoyed.
Gianna’s success reflects the quality of education and the spirit of excellence
we strive to instil at Acts House of Education. Our goal is to nurture lifelong
learners who can thrive in a global environment, and achievements like Gianna’s
are a testament to that. As she prepares for the next round, I am excited to
see how far she will go.”
Gianna herself expressed her happiness and pride in
representing her school at the EMS Olympiad. Her goal is to advance to the
provincial level. She attributes her success to her hard work, the unwavering
support of her teachers, and her parents’ prayers.
